Dr. Garett Franklin

I’m originally from Drexel, which is near Morganton, North Carolina. I was not the child that knew from a young age that I wanted to be a doctor. I always loved science and wanted to help people, but I was never sure how to do it. My education and career led me into engineering, pharmaceuticals, research, and finally steered me into medicine.

Though my path was longer than some, I would not change any of it. I believe the things I learned molded me into the physician I am today. I chose to specialize in family medicine because I like taking care of people. I also specialize in sports medicine, which is an equally rewarding challenge.

The most rewarding experience I’ve had as a doctor has been establishing relationships with patients. I’ve had the honor of helping patients through tough times as well as enjoying their special moments in life.

I’ve volunteered at the Samaritan Mission Clinic in Winston-Salem, which serves the homeless. I’ve also taken medical mission trips to Nicaragua, Ecuador, and Honduras. These trips are usually lots of work but very humbling and satisfying in the end. I’m inspired by my Christian faith, and I believe that I’ve been called to the medical profession to help people. I’m dedicated to being the best physician possible.

My wife Linsi and I have a son, Isaac. We also have a mini beagle named Buddie, who enjoys napping most of the day and being chased around the house by Isaac.

I love attending and watching sporting events. Of course, it’s hard to be a sports medicine physician and not like sports! I also enjoy golf and classic horror movies, and I’ll never turn down a good cup of coffee.

My favorite hobby is chasing my son around the house and hanging out with family and friends.
